Egg Whites Are a Cheat Code

Carton egg whites are inexpensive, versatile, beginner-friendly, and almost effortless to use. Add them to meals you already make for an easy protein boost.

Cheap. Easy to find. Ridiculously versatile.

Buy egg whites in a carton and there’s barely even a first step:

Open → pour → cook.

No cracking. No separating. Easy for beginners and perfect if, like me, you simply prefer less work.

Use them savory or sweet. Scramble them, bake them, or add them to baked goods. They can also replace whole eggs in many simple recipes.

An Easy Protein Boost

But they don’t even have to be the main ingredient.

Egg whites can be an easy, relatively inexpensive protein boost for foods you’re already making. Stir them into oatmeal or soup, or mix them into fried rice.

You Don’t Always Have to Cook Them

Carton egg whites sold in the U.S. are pasteurized, so you can even add them straight to smoothies or protein shakes — no cooking needed.

Protein Without Much Work

Egg whites are high in protein, contain no cholesterol, and are a relatively inexpensive source of high-quality protein.

Low effort doesn’t have to mean low nutrition.

Cacao nibs are more than crunchy “healthy chocolate.” After roasting cacao in Ecuador, I finally started thinking of them for what they are: pieces of the cacao seed, with their cocoa butter, fiber, minerals and plant compounds still there.
